Alpina

The Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH & Ko. Kg-the car manufacturing company based in Buchloe, in the Ostallgau district of Bavaria, Germany, which develops and sells high-performance version of BMW cars.
Alpina works closely with BMW and their processes are integrated into BMWs production lines, thus Alpina is recognized by the Ministry of transport of Germany as a manufacturer of automobiles, unlike other professionals which are aftermarket tuners. For example, the Alpina B7 is produced on the same Assembly line in Dingolfing, Germany Dingolfing BMW plant, the BMW, own 7-series. In B7s twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 is assembled by hand in holiday alpinas of the facility in Buchloe, Germany, before sending it to BMW for installation, and the assembled vehicle is then sent back to Alpina for finishing touches.
The firm was founded in 1965 by Burkard Bovensiepen, a member of the Bovensiepen family of Industrialists.

1. History. (История)
Holiday alpinas roots can be traced back to 1962 when Burkard Bovensiepen developed a Weber dual carburetor for the BMW 1500. This carb was well received by the automotive press and BMWs own sales boss, Paul G. Hahnemann. In 1964, BMW certified, the quality of this product Alpina on delivery of BMW with Alpina full factory warranty.
The Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen kg was founded on 1 January 1965 in the town of Kaufbeuren, Bavaria. The company had eight employees.
Although Alpina started producing typewriters, the original Alpina ceased to exist at the end of 1960-ies in their quest to move into the textile industry. In 1965, Burkard established a BMW tuning business following his success with investments in the stock market. He began to set up a business in the outbuilding of the original Alpina typewriter factory. The company has worked on the carburetors and revised cylinder heads. By 1970, with seventy employees, the original object changed locations from Kaufbeuren to Buchloe.
In its early years, al has established its core competence on tuning carburetors and crankshafts to extract more power from BMW engines, the elements that ultimately determined the companys logo, which appeared in 1967.
Between 1968 and 1977, Alpina cars did very well in the competition. The highlight was in 1970, when the team cars won the European touring car championship, the German championship auto show, rally and track racing Championships and the prestigious Spa 24 hours.
Alpina has officially withdrawn from the race in 1988 because of power limitations and constraints. Linked to this was the decision to start production of the new BMW Alpina cars.

2. Brand differences. (Фирменными отличиями)
Since 1983, Alpina has been recognized by the German Federal Ministry of transport as the automobile manufacturer, thus Alpina-built cars are branded and registered as Alpina instead of BMW, although an Alpina can be serviced in all dealer centres of BMW, and completely covered, if there is a warranty issue. Alpina vehicles are also sold in some dealerships BMW.
Distinctive features of Alpina vehicles is the fact that these models are literally "production", which means "hand". The production process switches between the fine-tuning of the engine and deliver it to the BMW plant, marrying the engine and the body is, to return it to Alpina to update the interior with the holiday alpinas certain components, again all a manual process that allows only limited production numbers. Besides the engine and interior, Alpina also optimizes the transfer and set button-paddle shifters on the steering wheel called switch-Tronic on most cars with paddle shifters used on V4 with edition 99. This has historical reasons, as the Alpina was the first to mount switch buttons on the steering wheel. Special features of appearance in 20-spoke alloy wheels with hidden valve under cover center "Alpina blue or green" metallic exterior colors. Inside, premium materials are used for manufacturing exclusive feel. Typical blue and green pattern is often used on interior parts such as stitchings on leather. Thin pinstriped style external body decor set in gold or silver is also a hallmark of old Alpina car, the options on the new model Alpina. A metal plate inside also proves the heritage and the cars serial number.
Compared to cars from BMWs in house subsidiary performance, BMW M, home alpinas means has a greater emphasis on luxury, higher torque, and have their own Alpina-type mobile ZF automatic transmissions instead of manual or semi-automatic transmission. For example, a relatively high performance options from the BMW E60 5, B5 offers a different take on the efficiency and ways of its implementation. Unlike BMW MS own M5 which has a naturally aspirated, high-revving 5.0 l V10, the Alpina B5 uses a supercharged 4.4 l V8 which produces similar horsepower and increase torque at low rpm.

This engine is the dimensions of the M20B27, develops 210 HP 154 kW 207 HP at 5.800 rpm and shows what the engine was really capable of. Originally installed in the E30-based Alpina C2 2.7, with a full drive, the catalyzed C2 / 2 appeared in the interim C2 2.7 kat in March 1987. It then was renamed "B3 2.7" five months later, when "C2" labeled machine was discontinued. The B3 2.7 continued to be available until June 1992, in all body variants and drivetrain configurations, with the exception of automation, in which the E30 was offered. Around 1986, 67 B6 2.7 "marked S2-engine E30s were built for export to Japan, where more 3.0 l B6 3.5 had a hard passing emissions regulations. In addition to powertrain C2, B6 2.7 is cosmetically identical to the B6 3.5.
Later 2.5 model C2 /3 was based on 2.5 325i. Alpina used the M20B25 engine with very few changes compared to previous models. Again, the cylinder head was decked to increase compression, and ported and polished. The ECU was also remapped. Maximum power is 140 kW 188 HP, With 235 N * m 173 lb⋅ft of torque. 0-100 km / h 62 km / h is achieved in 7.2 seconds. Maximum speed is 220 km / h 137 km / h was built only 50 cars.
The C2 /1 2.7 used the 325e ETA model engine block, crank and rods, but with custom flat head pistons is provided by Mahle. Originally Alpina modified to "200" casting number of the cylinder head, which is characteristic for the 325e with larger intake valves, larger intake air ports and revised valve chamber for better flow. A more aggressive camshaft, high lift and duration, and installed stiffer valve springs were. The compression ratio was increased to 10.2:1. The C2 / 1 2.7 made 210 HP 157 kW 267 N⋅m 197 lb⋅ft of torque, and was the fastest E30 at the time of 227 km / h 141 km / h). It was built 108 machines.
Later C2 /2 2.7 and at the beginning of 1987 B3 2.7 were used M20B25 block with ETA 325e crank and rods. The intake manifold was also redesigned for better flow. The head was decorated to increase the compression ratio of 10.1:1, for models with a 731 head, 9.6:1 for later "885" head models with a catalytic Converter and is combined with custom pistons of Mahle pistons for engines equipped with 731 head and domed pistons KS for engines equipped with 885 head. Larger throttle body was installed the S2 / 2 version uses the same throttle body as the M20B25 325i. Was built between 1986 and 1987, a total of 309 cars. C2 / 2 2.7 is 204 HP 152 kW and 266 N * m 196 lb⋅ft of torque. The maximum speed is 224 km / h 139 mph and a 0-100 km / h 62 km / h is achieved in 7.5 seconds.
The B3 2.7 is similar to the later C2 / 2 2.7 cars. It uses a M20B25 M20B27 block with crank and custom rods. 885 head is used only for model B3. The head is decorated with a ~ 1 mm to improve the SG to 9.6:1 and coincided with a custom convex in KS or Mahle pistons. Intake and cylinder head ported and polished. To use a custom mapping of the ECU. Engine management Bosch Motronic 1.3. B3 2.7 with catalytic converters to meet the standard time of the emissions. Performance similar to the later C2 / 2 2.7 cars. Built from 1987 to 1992 254 cars.

7.1. Series 7 home based alpinas. E38 B12. (Е38 В12)
On the BMW 750i and 750iL full, Alpina B12 5.7 was released in 1995 and B12 6.0 in 1999. Unlike cars on which they are based, these models are not electronically limited top speed of 250 km / h 155 km / h but can reach a top speed of over 280 km / h 174 km / h and 291 km / h 181 km / h, respectively. According To Alpina B12 5.7 was the first car in the world with electrically heated metal catalyst as standard. In B12 5.7 is a 5.7-liter V12 and the B12 6.0 has a 6.0 liter V12.

7.2. Series 7 home based alpinas. E65 B7. (Е65 В7)
For E65 7 series new generation, the Alpina B7 was widely credited With being able to hold his own against the best offerings from Mercedes AMG including such as the S600 and S63 AMG, Audi quattros, especially the Audi S8, the Bentley flying spur, and Jaguar XJ supercharged, while BMWs own top-of-the-line V12 760Li was uncompetitive.
On the E65 B7 uses a charged version of the 4.4-liter V8 found in the BMW 745i as the 750i and its 4.8-liter engine were not around when development began. In 760Lis atmospheric 6.0-litre V12 was deemed too heavy to have a sporty offshoot. In 2011 Alpina B7, with its twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 engine and 6-speed automatic transmission, it is cheaper and faster than its F01 stablemate, the 2010 BMW 760Li powered by a twin-turbo 6.0-litre V12 paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. In B7s engine derived from BMW from 63, which is in the standard BMW lineup, matches the BMW 750i in full in fuel economy despite increased performance, plus its lighter weight than 760Lis V12 engine gives the B7 considerably better weight distribution and handling than the 760Li.
BMW of North America, LLC offered 800 Alpina B7s as limited edition models for 2007 and 2008, which were quickly sold out.

7.3. Series 7 home based alpinas. F01 / F02 B7. (F01 / Ф02 В7)
On the F01 B7 will be offered again for the 2011 model year in the U.S., with approximately 500 vehicles half the annual production of the B7 with rear wheel drive or all-wheel drive and / or a standard or extended wheelbase B7 l long wheelbase, B7 full all-wheel drive, and B7 l xDrive), otherwise all configurations have the same equipment. Over 80 models will be sold in Canada, all kinds of four-wheel drive due to the fact that the countrys winter weather.
In B7s twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 is assembled by hand in holiday alpinas of the facility in Buchloe, Germany, before sending it to BMW for installation, and the assembled vehicle is then sent back to Alpina for finishing touches. It is based on the BMW twin-turbo V8 but produces considerable more torque and power, though with some turbo lag due to large turbine, yet more measured throttle mapping makes the B7 is softer than the stock BMW 750i full.
While BMW uses run-flat tires for its 7 series, the B7 comes with non-reinforced tires repair kit tire for emergencies. By using conventional, softer-sidewalled tires, compared with the reinforced sidewalls of the run-flats, Alpina engineers failed to tighten B7s suspension for better handling and improve ride quality over that of a stock BMW 750i full.
For the 2013 model year, the Alpina B7 received similar updates to the rest of the 7 series lineup, including an 8-speed automatic gearbox, while its engine adds Valvetronic and now produces 540 HP 403 kW, 547 HP and 538 lb⋅ft 729 N⋅m, what is good for 0-100 km / h 62 mph in 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 300 km / h 186 mph. Compared to the MS version of the BMW 4.4 l twin-turbo engine, such as found in the F10 M5 engine for vacation alpinas and 20 HP 15 kW 20 HP less but more torque, which is also available at lower rpm.
When comparing the series 2013 BMW 7 and Alpina B7, motor Trend said the B7 better than the BMW 760iL, but not as good as the 750iL.

8. Series 8 home-based alpinas. (Серия 8 дому для отпуска alpinas) B12 5.0. (В12 5.0)

9. Alpina Roadster V8. (Альпина Родстер В8)
With the production BMW Z8 completed by November 2002, for 2003 the Z8 production was replaced by the Alpina V8 Roadster. The Alpina was a departure from the hard-edged sporting focus of the original car, and elements of the new Grand touring intent were evident throughout this final edition. Instead of six-speed manual and 4.9 l S62 engine is presented in the Z8s, Alpina came only in automatic mode, with a five-speed Steptronic transmission from BMW paired with a 4.8 l Alpina-tuned V8 motor from the Alpina E39 B10 V8 engine with BMW M62B48. In order to complete the transition of cars from sports car Alpina used the services of suspension tuning. Z8s standard run-flat tires on 18 in 46 cm wheels were discarded in favor of conventional tires with softer sidewalls, and 20 in 51 cm wheels. New, softer grade of Nappa leather replaced the Z8s less supple specification, and special Alpina gauges were placed on the instrument panel cluster. Alpina steering wheel with three solid spokes replaced the original, which could not be retrofitted with shift paddles for the automatic. Gear selection was displayed in an Alpina-specific display mounted in front of the wheel.
Performance Alpina B8 is different from the standard car in that peak power was reduced to 375 HP 280 kW, while peak torque was raised to 383 lb⋅ft 519 N ∙ m of torque that was available at significantly lower rpm than the original in order for more relaxed cruising. Interestingly, the maximum speed is electronically limited was officially raised to 161 km / h 259 km / h.
Was built only 555 of these alpinas holiday, 450 of which were exported to the U.S. market and only eight to the UK. In the United States, this special edition of the Z8 was sold directly through BMW dealerships, marking the first time Alpina, whose cars have never been sold through retail channels in the United States
